August 2016 Birchbox

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

stila Matte About You Liquid Lipstick Trio: I love lip products so I’m glad this one was included in my box!

Living proof.® No Frizz Nourishing Oil: I haven’t gotten to try this yet because I have a few other hair samples to get through first (yes, I’m this behind!) but I’m happy to have it because it looks like a nice product.

HUM Nutrition Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder: Food in a Birchbox! FINALLY! They used to frequently send little food samples but then stopped. Guess they had some quality control issues or something like that. I thought it was interesting this sample had a health focus because in the past I usually received chocolate from them.

Acure Organics Coconut & Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes: I love these!! I actually got the full-size version as an add-on item several weeks before this sample arrived. I’m happy to have the smaller pack because it takes up less space in my bag.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow: I believe I’ve tried and liked Marcelle products before but I don’t usually use BB cream so I gave this sample to a friend.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle – not from the August box – I’m not sure when I got this sample from (probably) Birchbox but I’m glad it appeared again (3rd time?) because I love it!

I still love Birchbox because they have sent me a lot of awesome samples over the years but I’m a bit sad about their recent points program changes. I really liked getting about $30 of products (usually awesome liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner) for just a few bucks (and however many minutes it took me to complete the sample surveys) every 6 months or so!

August 2016 Popsugar Must Have Mini

Screen Shot 2016-08-23 at 11.31.01 AM.png

jOTBLOCK by three by three – I love that this is a Seattle company! I have heard of them but have never used/owned any of their products. I have a lot of (cute) notebooks and notepads but none with a little pen compartment.

EYES by ToGoSpa (Coconut) – I believe I have received this product in a box before but haven’t gotten around to using it yet. No idea why because it sounds like a wonderful experience!

Cool Cotton Body Lotion by CLEAN – I don’t love receiving lotions in boxes but this time I actually wanted some because my knees have been a bit dry (summer? barre?). I do like that box companies usually send really nice lotions (like this one!), though! Quite a few friends like taking the nice lotions off my hands. ;) Anyway… this lotion. This lotion is nice but has a stronger scent than I expected. Not a huge fan of the strong scent but I guess it’s not a big problem.

Wonder what they will send next month! If you’d like to subscribe (this box is $18.95 per month), here’s my referral link. :)

February 2016 Popsugar Must Have Box

a97b81ef_MH16_Feb_Reveal_728x500_Post

Can’t get my photos to load right now… will probably replace the image later. (This is Popsugar’s image.)

Must Have Beauty

Beautycounter Nourishing Cleansing Balm: I love this item! Nice packaging and I love that there’s a muslin cloth included.

Victoria’s Secret Coconut Milk Hydrating Body Lotion: It looks like a nice lotion and I’m glad it’s a big bottle. I’m not really a fan of most lotions, however, so I gave this one to a friend.

Must Have Fashion

Tilo Heart Print Scarf: Loooove this scarf! The little hearts are cute and perfect for February.

JewelryStorm Endless Arrow Ring: People have told me I have small hands/fingers and this ring only fits me as a midi ring, so I’m not sure it fits like a normal ring for many adults. I like it because it’s cute and it sparkles. :)

Must Have Home

Fringe Studio Hello Beautiful Square Tray: Super cute tray! I love it and am glad they chose it for this box.

Must Have Food

Foodstirs Heart Cookie Mix:  I love that Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy!) is involved in this project (co-founder!) and that the package was super cute. I had to give it away, however, because it wasn’t gluten-free.

Special Extra: Victoria’s Secret Sports Socks: I love these!

Special Extra: Victoria’s Secret Reward Card: I don’t normally shop at Victoria’s Secret but I’ll probably be able to find something for about $20. Maybe something fitness related! ;)

August 2015 Popsugar Must Have Box

Must Have Fashion

American Colors Mediterranean Plaid Scarf: Another scarf?!?! -_- It’s a pretty cute scarf but I didn’t really need/want another one (have received ~5 from Popsugar?), so I wasn’t too happy to see it in the box.

Must Have Beauty

Royal Apothic Tea Balm Firming Eye Treatment: I have quite a few eye creams right now (thanks to subscription boxes) so I’ll have to use the older ones first, but I’m looking forward to trying this treatment!

Must Have Home

Pastel Best Day Ever Mug: Super cute mug! Hope I don’t break it before the day I have an office again comes. ;)

Happy Jackson Yay Lunch! Lunch Box: Another cute item! I work remotely so I don’t really need a lunch box, but I can still use it when I want to work from a coffee shop and eat lunch at a park.

Meri Meri Toot Sweet Pink Stripe Napkins: Another cute item… that I don’t really need. I gave these to my cousin because she likes pink things and hosts way more dinner parties.

Must Have Food

Southern Culture Shortstacks Pancake & Waffle Mix: I like the package but will be giving this item away because my boyfriend can’t eat it (gluten) and I rarely eat pancakes and waffles (recently made my first gluten/flour-free banana pancakes, though… so simple & good!). I wish Popsugar would stop sending mixes like this or at least add a survey question about dietary restrictions, like they do with earrings.

Must Have Fitness

MyYogaWorks 3-Month Trial: I love that they included something in the fitness category but am sad it was this because I don’t like practicing yoga at home. This is a great for some people, though… ended up giving my code to somebody through a local Buy Nothing Facebook group.

Special Extra

Folgers Iced Café™ Caramel Macchiato Flavored Coffee Drink Concentrate: I like iced coffee drinks and coffee that doesn’t require me using a coffee machine, so I’m looking forward to using this sample.

Can’t wait to see the September 2015 box!

Spring 2015 Eat Clean Live Happy Box – “Detox and Delight”

I discovered Homeshed Kitchens and their new seasonal Eat Clean Live Happy box when I was browsing #subscriptionbox on Instagram. I really liked the little bee print and the idea for the box, so I started following and subscribed a day or two later.

This box is interesting because Homeshed Kitchens is not a subscription box company (more like a caterer?), they’re only creating 150 boxes per season, and shipments will be sent around the 16th of each month.

homeshedkitchens-spring15

1. Detox & Delight Tea Blend > I love the detox theme and have really enjoyed this tea.

2. Bamboo Tea Infuser > I already have an infuser or two, but this one’s different and I like that it goes with another item in the box (the tea).

3. “Super Good” Super Food Red Berry Smoothie Mix > I’ve been thinking about making more smoothies for a while, but have been keeping my blender hidden because I’ve only had bad experiences with it in recent years. This mix changed that “relationship” and got me to experiment a little more! I didn’t have fresh berries on hand, so I used the mix + almond milk + one pitted date (also in this box) + one banana (until I ran out of bananas).

4. Hot Chocolate and Tea Swirl Sticks – “The chocolate sticks are made with 58% bittersweet couverture chocolate, organic maca root powder, raw cacao powder, pure vanilla extract and sea salt. The tea sticks contain 100% white couverture chocolate & chai tea leaves.” > I haven’t tried the tea swirl stick yet, but the hot chocolate swirl sticks vanished quickly! I’m glad Chef Jeanette included two. :)

5. Recipe cards (smoothie, vegan soup, salad) > I used the smoothie recipe right away. Not sure if I’ll get around to trying the soup and salad recipes, but they can be useful.

6. Madras Curry > This item was included because it’s one of the soup ingredients, but I’ll probably use it for something else. Tempted to use it in some kind of rice dish.

7. Pitted dates > These dates were included because they were on the list of smoothie ingredients. I’m glad they were in the box because I probably wouldn’t have gotten around to purchasing them before making a smoothie.

8. Whipped Honey (“Killer Bee” from The Bee Folks) > The honey is meant to be enjoyed in the salad (recipe card included) or with the tea. We have a bunch of honey because people keep giving us honey, but I’m hoping to try this honey at some point.

9. Bee Flour Sack Towel > I love useful kitchen items and the little bee print!

10. Journal “to keep track of your hard work and determination” > More cute bees! :) Paper journals have been on my mind and I recently started using them again, so I’m happy to have another one.

This box costs $28 (free shipping if you subscribe) and felt more like a care package than a subscription box. I am already looking forward to opening the summer box in April!

If you’d like to get this box, there’s still plenty of time. Learn more about the Eat Clean Live Happy Box here. If you’d like to learn more about the items featured in the spring box, check out Chef Jeanette’s “reveal” blog post here.

Thanks for reading! :)
